Show and Tell Bible

The last few years I have gotten commission work from Bedrock productions to do art for The Show and Tell Bible. The Show and Tell Bible is an audio-visual DVD Bible. It is done in story book format. An illustration is show about every 8-10 seconds with narration. They have used a variety of illustrators and narrators for the project. Bedrock productions wanted The Show & Tell Bible to be biblically accurate, comprehensive, and easy to understand. They have based it off of the American Standard version of the bible but use modern language that even a young child can understand. So far they have completed Volume One The Books of Moses and Volume 2 The History Books (Joshua - Esther). Volume 3 is currently in the works. In all they will have 5 volumes covering the entire Bible. I think this is a great tool for reinforcing the bible for the entire family. We learn so much visually, this format helps further plant the bible accounts into our minds. "Redos"

Occasionally I see a painting I have done in the past and in my head I'm making corrections. "I should of done this or that differently... why didn't I see that was off while I was painting it... " I think that's just a part of the growing process. The more you grow the more you see. Also your style can change some, so it may not even be necessarily that what you did is incorrect it may just be a matter of a change in taste. Maybe a year ago you were really into painting really intense color and now you're wanting to have a more subdued palette or last week you were going for big thick juicy brush strokes and now you want a more polished look. This painting below has been talking to me for a while now and every time I looked at it all I could see was what needed to be fixed. In this painting I felt some of the edges in it needed to be softened especially in the face. I'm so glad I redid this one, I feel so much better now!

Movement in the Garden

This is an "all original art collage" A few years back I was doing a lot more illustrative type work and I worked mostly in watercolor. Anyways I ended up with a bunch of random paintings that didn't quite come out, so I cut these up and made some collages (I might post some of those on here in the future). I had the creative urge to come back to this idea and play around with it some more. "Movement in the Garden" is the second recent one I did the first being "Her Name Is Spring".

Works From My Journal

Rachel Plante Eudaly the founder of a local dance group called Kansas City Movement let me come visit and shoot some pictures of them while they practiced for an up coming show. I have two oil painting I already posted but I also decided it would be fun to use the pictures for my drawing exercises. If you love performing arts and want to attend a local live dance performance, Kansas City movement has a website. They don't have any upcoming shows listed, so check the website regularly for updates. http://www.kansascitymovement.com/index.html
